   MortgageCare

Home Sweet Home
Protecting your mortgage repayments for less than you think

Your mortgage repayments are probably your largest financial commitment; you do not need us to tell you how important it is for you to keep up the repayments.

Your home is your castle... until, that is, you become ill or unemployed. If you are unable to maintain your mortgage payments, your castle will be repossessed. There are no ifs and buts about it; the days of state hand-outs ended more than a decade ago.

It is your responsibility to protect your
repayments... have you taken that responsibility?

With MortgageCare from Universal Provident, you can protect your monthly repayments for up to 12 months, should you lose your job through no fault of your own or become unable to work as a result of an accident or illness. You are free to choose whether your cover will protect you from the inability to work as a result of accident and sickness only, unemployment only or accident, sickness and unemployment.

Who is eligible for cover?
You may apply for cover if you are:
  •
  • a permanent resident of the UK (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man)
  •
  • aged between 18 and 64 years old inclusive
  •
  • in paid employment of more than 16 hours per week in the UK (and have been so continuously for the past six months)
  •
  • not absent from work through accident or illness and not aware of any impending unemployment

How long will the cover continue?
Cover will stop at the earliest of these events:
  •
  • your 65th birthday
  •
  • the date you retire with no intention of continuing or resuming employment
  •
  • non-payment of the monthly premium if you
    have chosen a monthly policy
  •
  • the date you no longer have a mortgage to protect

How much will the cover cost?
The current premium for Mortgage Care to cover you against the risks of accident, sickness and unemployment is £5.49 per month for every £100 of monthly benefit you insure. If you wish to restrict cover to either unemployment only or accident and sickness only, the premium will be £3.61 per month for each £100 insured.

This Payment Protection Insurance (Mortgage Care) is optional. There are other providers of Payment Protection Insurance and other products designed to protect you against loss of income. For impartial information about insurance, please visit the website at www.moneymadeclear.org.uk.
